EXPERIENCE

Admitted in both New York and California, Mark’s practice focuses on mergers & acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, impact investing and general corporate & commercial matters for financial sponsors, portfolio companies, strategic acquirors and start-ups across a variety of sectors. Mark was previously Managing Director & Deputy General Counsel of TPG Growth, the middle market buyout, growth equity and venture platform of alternative asset manager TPG Global.  Mark advised The Rise Fund, TPG’s social and environmental impact fund, from first fund closing through its initial series of investments in healthcare, clean energy, agriculture and educational technology.  Mark also has deep domain expertise in cross-border transactions and joint ventures and has advised CEOs and boards of directors on numerous complex deals.

From 2011 until 2016, Mark was Executive Counsel, Transactions & Finance at General Electric Company and a key advisor to GE on some of its most significant industrial dispositions, including the $5.4 billion sale of GE Appliances to Chinese appliance maker Haier and the sale of numerous business units to private equity sponsors.  Mark is a also noted speaker on the application of artificial intelligence to the practice of law, law department efficiency and transactional process management.

Mark graduated from Columbia University with an AB, summa cum laude, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his JD, cum laude, from Harvard Law School where he was an editor of the Harvard International Law Journal. He began his legal career in New York as an associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and then as Senior Counsel at London-based Allen & Overy LLP.  Mark is a past member of both the Council for the United States and Italy and the New York City Bar Association Committee on Mergers, Acquisitions & Corporate Control Contests.
