EXPERIENCE

Ishara is a member of the firm’s Venture Capital & Emerging Companies practice group.  Ishara has experience advising privately held companies on securities regulation compliance, M&A transactions, entity formation and general corporate matters. Prior to joining Reitler, Ishara worked in the legal department of a technology start-up where she advised the company on various commercial transactions, private equity matters, and state and federal law compliance.

During law school, Ishara interned in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Enforcement as a Student Honor.  She also participated in Cardozo’s Securities Arbitration Clinic, where she represented retail investors who were victims of securities fraud.  Ishara was also selected to participate in Cardozo’s highly competitive transactional law clinic where she represented independent film makers throughout the pre-production, production, and post-production stages of a film’s development.

Ishara is certified in Financial Accounting, Business Analytics, and Economics for Managers from Harvard Business School.

Ishara is an active member of the Association of Black Women Attorneys and serves on the Practice and Skills Committee of the New York City Bar Association.  In addition to her professional memberships, Ishara serves as a Binghamton University Alumna Mentor and regularly volunteers for the New York City Bar Association’s Thurgood Marshall Professional Development Series for high school students.
