Bio
Charles is a corporate attorney
with particular expertise in private equity and venture
capital. His practice focuses on counseling buyers and
sellers in connection with mergers and acquisitions, minority
and control investments and portfolio dispositions, typically
with respect to established or emerging technology companies.
Additionally, he regularly represents established and emerging
technology companies throughout all phases of their
development—formation, financing, general corporate growth and
realization events.
Charles received his JD from The
University of Chicago Law School and a BA from New York
University. Prior to joining RK&R, Charles focused on all aspects
of complex commercial, securities and employment litigation,
arguing before both federal and state courts of original and
appellate jurisdiction, with the litigation department of Stroock
& Stroock & Lavan LLP. Now, he blends transactional skill with
prior experience as commercial litigator to provide integrated,
practical legal advice.
Charles is a member of the bar of
New York and is admitted to practice before the Southern, Eastern
and Northern District Courts of New York. He is an active member
of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and its
Committee on Minorities in the Profession, as well as the American
Bar Association and its Private Equity and Venture Capital
Committee.
A fan of emerging technology and
digital networking, Charles can be found on LinkedIn,
Martindale-Hubbell Connected, Twitter and Foursquare. He is a
frequent speaker on a variety of legal topics and, as an avid
skier, is the creator and moderator of VCs on Skis, an invite-only
networking event hosted annually by RK&R for the NYC Venture
Capital/Entrepreneur community.
Charles was recently named “2010 Attorney of the Year” by The New
York Enterprise Report.
